“A simple practice for any day, especially during the New Moon”
Have you ever caught yourself wishing you could hit the reset button on some part of your life? Maybe it’s a habit that no longer serves you, a season that has felt heavy, or a dream you’ve quietly set aside. If so, take a breath, because you are far from alone.
Here’s the beautiful truth: the one thing life promises us is change. Nothing stays the same, which means nothing has to stay stuck, and that includes you. Every day offers a new beginning, and it starts with something simple yet powerful: an intention.
When you decide who you want to be and how you want to live, you stop drifting and start moving toward the life you’ve been longing for. Your fresh start isn’t waiting somewhere far away. It begins the moment you choose it.
In numerology, some dates feel more powerful than others. Saturday, October 10, 2026, is one of them. It’s a 10/10 portal with a New Moon on the same day, a pairing that doesn’t happen very often. If you believe in the power of intention, or you’re ready to start applying it to your life and work, this is a wonderful place to begin.
What is the 10/10 Portal?
A portal is a symbolic doorway or gateway: it’s a moment in time when embarking on a Fresh Start, launching a Project, or Setting Goals and putting them in motion feels easier.
In numerology, the number 1 represents: a Spark, New Ideas, a New Start, a New Beginning, Initiation, Opportunities, Confidence, and Leadership.
The number zero (0) represents Potential, like a blank page ready and waiting for something to begin or take shape.
Put the 1 and 0 together, then double them, as we see in 10/10/2026; many believe that fresh-start energy is DOUBLED or AMPLIFIED!
Another Thing to Look At
Add all the digits in the date October 10, 2026: 1+0+1+0+2+0+2+6 = 12. Then add 1+2, and it equals 3. The number three represents Expansion, Growth, Creativity, Self-Expression, Development, Joy, Communication, Adaptability, Blending, and Calculated Risk.
The New Moon
The New Moon of October 10th, 2026 reaches conjunction on Saturday, October 10th at 10:50 AM EDT. You can set intentions anytime between Saturday at 10:30 AM through Sunday evening at 10:00 PM.
Every New Moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle. The sky goes dark, making it the ideal time to plant seeds for a New Beginning, a new project, and for the coming two weeks. This October, the New Moon falls in Libra, a perfect time to focus on balance, self-love and development, and strengthening relationships.
New to Living More Intentionally?
Here are a few suggestions for how to make the most of the upcoming Fresh Start portal.
What you will need:
Pen, Paper, Candle, Matches, Music to listen to, and a Clear Quartz Crystal (optional)
What to Do:
- Physically CLEAN your space. Our minds work better in an orderly environment.
- Energetically CLEAN your space. A symbolic movement can make this feel more real. Open a window (even a crack), then walk around the room and visualize gathering up negative, unproductive, and congested energy. Sweep it with your arms toward the open window and out. Then close the window and believe it is done.
- Set the Mood. Choose a song or piece of music to play. Light a candle and place the Clear Quartz crystal in front of you. Clear Quartz is said to amplify energy!
- Get Still. Sit quietly and allow your mind to settle for five minutes. If you meditate, do so now.
- Choose Your Focus. Think of something you would like to start, restart, improve, or focus on during this special day and throughout the new lunar cycle—approximately 28 days. Keep your list SHORT, with no more than two or three things!
- Write your intentions by hand. Using a pen and paper brings your personal energy into the list.
- Use the present tense. For example: “I remain positive about my future and do not give in to fear.”
- Pick your most important intention. Write it on a separate piece of paper 10 times, then read it out loud.
- Step outside after dark. Enjoy the quiet, contemplative moonless night sky of the New Moon.
- Revisit your list daily. Each morning, reread your list silently or out loud (which is even better). Ask the Universe, Source, or the Great Spirit to help you take actions that bring you closer to your goal/s.
- Check in at the Full Moon. When the Full Hunter’s Moon arrives on October 26th, look back at your list and what you have done to move closer to your goals.
- Celebrate every WIN, however small. Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t where you hoped to be. Life can and does interrupt, but don’t let it stop you. Stay positive and keep moving forward.
- Release what’s in the way. On the evening of the next Full Moon, jot down a few things you can let go of, remove, or stop doing. As the moon wanes (gets smaller) over the next two weeks, focus on clearing obstacles to your intentions.
- Begin Again. At the time of this writing, the next New Moon cycle begins on November 9th, 2026. If you haven’t reached your goals, repeat the steps above and keep moving forward. If there is something new you want to pursue, repeat them with your new intention.
